How cloud computing works delivering feasible outputs?

Summary: First, you have to know what is cloud computing in order to understand how it works and also about the advantages of this new and innovative process of providing computing resources in the cloud. Secondly, you have to understand the different types of cloud offerings, including infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), software as a service (SaaS) and business process as a service (BPaaS). Each service is built on top of other services.

Now, how does cloud computing work? Assume that you’re an executive at a large business corporation. Your main responsibility is to ensure that all of your employees have the right combination of hardware and software which they need to do their jobs. So buying computers for everyone is your job .

But that isn’t enough; you also have to purchase software or software licenses which are to be given to the employees to provide them with the tools they require. Whenever you have a new employee, you have to buy a new software or make sure that your current software license allows another user.

Soon, there may be an alternative for troubled executives like you. Instead of installing a software for each computer, you will only have to load one application. That application would allow employees of your corporation to log into a Web based service.

The Web based service hosts all types of programs the user would need for his or her job. Remote machines which are owned by a different company would run everything on behalf of you, from word processing to complex data analysis programs. This is called cloud computing, and it could change the entire computer industry.

In a cloud computing system, there is a significant reduction in the amount of workload. Local computers no longer have to bear all the heavy workload when it comes to running applications. Instead, the network of computers that build up the cloud computing system handles the workload.

The demand for hardware and software decreases significantly on the side of the user. The only thing the user’s computer should be capable of running is the interface software of the cloud computing system. The software is as simple as a Web browser while the cloud’s network will take care of the rest.

If you have used an email account with a Web based email service like Hotmail or Gmail, then you’ve already used and experienced cloud computing. You simply log in to an email account remotely, instead of running an email program on your computer. The software and storage for your account exists in service’s computer cloud and not in your computer.

In general, you log in to a portal and you request for your services through the Cloud Service Consumer. This service has been created by the cloud service provider and can be a simple virtual machine based on an image, some network components, an application service and a service. It generally depends on the provider and type of resources and services you are looking for.
